 john callistoJohn started playing bass at the age of 18 on a part time basis and slowly started to gain a good repour and working association with many musicians from all around Australia. Whilst performing 5 nights on electric and double bass a week part time in the house band John accompanied many international acts , floor shows , Singers, cabaret entertainers, comedians, variety acts, and popular artist from around Australia and overseas. Many were either reading gigs or improvised performances from comedy, classical, cabaret, jazz to rock repertoire. The standard level of performance was very high and all at a professional level so in the eighties John started full time studies on electric and double bass. John graduated with degrees in performance on electric bass, jazz and classical double bass and teaching degree in 1987. John also started working professionally as a full time performer in Adelaide and Melbourne whilst teaching at many private schools in Adelaide. In this period John also established J C JAZZ with Peter McMillan on Piano and Jim Bailey on drums. Many interstate and overseas opportunities to perform were available however travelling with a young family would not be practical so John decided to stay in Adelaide performing freelance, teaching bass and launching new a list of new band products ready to conquer the corporate market. J C Jazz and associated J C Groups included J C Lounge, J C Latin, J C Swings, J C Acoustic and J C Rocks. John is now teaching at many private colleges, performing in J C Jazz at corporate functions and freelancing in many bands around Adelaide.
